Ki Wisdom – it’s an energy thing!

The natural healing force within each of us is the greatest force for getting well
~ Hippocrates

We all have a great ability to heal ourselves, however, over time many of us have become so disconnected from ourselves, our essence. We have forgotten what our ancestors knew, the art of tuning into our own mind and body, our own energy system, in order to support the healing process.

Energy healing works by tuning into that person’s unique energetic system.  Healing therapies can be hands-on or hands-off; acupressure and acupuncture, for example, would need to be hands-on; Reiki is effective either way, equally in-person or distance.  Therapists may use or combine other sources of energy within a treatment, for example from crystals, sound, or colour; all of which have a vibrational energy of their own.  The idea is to stimulate, shift, balance or raise the vibrational energy in order to support the client to relax, de-stress, and heal.

Reiki was popularised in Japan and goes back to at least the 18th century, Mikao Usui is well known as one of the initial practitioners of Reiki, with Madam Takata broadening its reach and being pivotal in bringing it to the Western realm.  Rei means universal spirit and Ki (also known as chi or prana) means life force; the vitality that gives life to all living things, our energy.

This great passion of mine, which I was first attuned to in 2006, promotes relaxation and deep healing across mind, body, spirit and soul. The magical transformations that I’ve witnessed in clients is a pure joy to behold.  I’ve also had the humbling experience of working with terminal patients, helping ease pain and muscle tension, and bringing some peace into their day through deep relaxation.

This is a way of life for me and I engage with it daily; there are so many creative ways to use Reiki, from movement to art; and connection to self, others and nature.

Reiki is love, Love is wholeness, Wholeness is balance, balance is well being,
Well being is freedom from disease.
~ Dr Mikao Usui.

Your energy system works through certain points in your body, as outlined in my blog ‘A Reiki Life’, and it is impacted by so many things, including other vibrations, other people, the food you eat and the practices you engage in.  You can unwittingly lose energy; for example through traumatic life events.
Your energy can also be taken; ever heard the term ‘energy vampires’? This will be apparent when you leave someone, or maybe a place, feeling drained. Another turn of phrase, ‘this place has a bad vibe’, that’s the dominant collective energy you’re feeling.

When our energy is healthy, our chakras are balanced, vibrating evenly and in alignment with each other.  Our aura is secure and free of residue energies that do not serve us.  You’ll experience this through feelings of resilience, self confidence, compassion and peace.

When our energy is depleted or lost, this can lead to feelings of anxiety, depression, emotional imbalance; indeed it can lead to all kinds of ‘dis-ease’ of mind, body, spirit and soul.

Ready to take back your energy and make it vibe the way it’s meant to?
